The Senate Judiciary & Rules Committee paused its agenda March 25 to bid farewell to Senate Page Hazel Stephens. Chairman Lakey thanked Stephens for her work, calling her competent and noting her positive attitude.
Stephens said she plans to attend Northwest Nazarene University to study criminal justice and hopes to become a lawyer. "I enjoyed the Judiciary and Rules Committee because it was interesting, and there was always something going on," she told members. Senator Lenney asked Stephens what surprised her about working at the Senate; she replied that while she expected some things to be one way, she found them the opposite, and that staff and members remained both professional and upbeat.
