The Department and Agency Subcommittee voted to advance House Bill 1469, a measure from Chairman Moon and the Secretary of State's office, that would remove the publication of personal mailing addresses and phone numbers of board and commission members from the Secretary of State's Open Appointments report. The committee opened and closed debate without further amendments and the clerk recorded an 8-0 vote to move the bill to the full State and Local Committee.
Chairman Moon said the bill preserves the requirement that agencies compile contact information but "eliminates the publication of the personal address of the member and their phone number," arguing that listing personal contact information in the public report "has led to harassment." The sponsor told the committee the measure still requires a compiled directory for government use but would stop publishing private contact details in the public-facing report.
After the presentation the committee proceeded to a formal vote. The clerk announced, "Mister chair, you have 8 ayes, 0 nos, and 0 present not voting," and the Chair confirmed the bill will be forwarded to the full State and Local Committee for further consideration.
