The Rangely Town Council voted to approve a special-event permit for the Chamber of Commerce’s Crab Crack on Feb. 22, 2025 at Colorado Northwestern Community College. A Chamber representative described the event’s schedule, menu and sales, saying organizers had nearly sold out tables and that the crab would be flown in from Seattle.
"This is our big event for the year," the representative said, outlining a cocktail hour, awards and auction and noting the Hawaiian-luau theme. Councilmember moved to approve the permit, the motion was seconded and the council voted in favor; the motion carried.
Organizers said the chamber will use some main-street funds toward banners and event marketing and encouraged local businesses to participate. The chamber also announced a free training session for local employers the following week.
