County staff presented a signed contract from another county requesting that the county house five transferred inmates and asked the board to authorize signatures.
Staff said the county has been charging other counties a $95 daily rate and proposed the same rate for this contract: "we proposed to them the same $95 rate that we charge other counties, and that's what they're paying even today," staff said. A board member noted the $95 figure is set in statute for corrections housing and that legislative discussions could revisit that amount in the future. The board moved to authorize signatures on the contract and approved the action by voice vote.
Staff noted the contract was dated Aug. 1 and runs for a year with the option to amend; commissioners asked staff to provide cost information later so the board can consider rate adjustments if necessary.
