Box Elder County adopted Ordinance 644 to accept the Box Elder County Water Master Plan, a technical document completed after about two years of outreach to water providers and stakeholders. Scott Lyons, who managed the project, said the plan was split into seven regions so each area could have guidance tailored to its infrastructure and needs.
Lyons said the planning effort involved public meetings, interviews with every county water provider, and assistance from the Water Conservancy District, including funding support. Commissioners praised the document — described as roughly 340 pages plus appendices — and emphasized the need to follow the plan rather than shelve it. "So this is the full water master plan that we have been working on for the past 2 years," Lyons said. The commission approved the ordinance by voice vote.
