The Box Elder County Commission voted to adopt Ordinance 643, approving a franchise agreement that will allow Sienna Wave to build telecommunications infrastructure using county rights-of-way and extend fiber service into rural areas of the county.
Brian Papworth, representing Sienna Wave, told the commission the company worked with county attorneys to adjust the agreement and is "excited to extend our fiber network to the rural portions of Box Elder County." County staff said the franchise includes an initial 10-year term with two 5-year renewable terms and grants access to county right-of-way for installation.
Commissioner Bingham moved to approve Ordinance 643 and the corresponding franchise agreement; the motion was seconded and carried by voice vote.
