Students and staff from Colorado Northwestern Community College asked the council for financial help to attend the national intercollegiate aviation competition. Student John Roberts said the team has raised roughly $33,000 but still “need[s] about $40,000” to travel to Wisconsin; adviser and aviation program director Nathan Arnold confirmed the $40,000 estimate and described competition costs for travel, lodging and equipment.
Council members moved and approved a $3,500 contribution from the town’s public-giving account to help the team close the gap; speakers also discussed merchandising and sponsorships to raise additional funds. Nathan Arnold said the program is one of only two two‑year schools to reach nationals and announced that Rangely will host regionals next year. Council members encouraged fundraising and in-kind support.
