Electric City council authorizes two TIB grant applications totaling $1.67 million

On Aug. 12 the Electric City Council authorized two grant applications to the Transportation Improvement Board (TIB). The council approved a Small City Preservation Program application for $1,369,138 to seal coat remaining streets in town and an Active Transportation Program application for $300,000 to construct sidewalks along School Avenue and McNett Avenue adjacent to the new city park. Both grants were stated to require no matching local funds.
Councilmember Blake Martin moved and Councilmember Matt Gilbert seconded the preservation grant motion; the active transportation grant motion was recorded as moved by Martin and seconded by Boyce. The minutes show both motions carried unanimously (CU). These authorizations allow staff and TD&H to prepare and submit applications before the TIB deadlines.
