School foundation granted fairgrounds fee waiver for 'Jubilee of Trees' fundraising event

Jamie Kent, executive director of the Box Elder School District Foundation, and Superintendent Steve Carlson asked the commission for a fee waiver to use the Fine Arts Building at the fairgrounds for the foundation's 'Jubilee of Trees' from Nov. 4–7.
"We were able to raise, after our fees, $28,000 that has gone all back to students," Kent told commissioners, saying proceeds supported student health and wellness programs, onsite school food pantries and supplies. She said the foundation also plans to use some funds for music program support this year.
Commissioners asked about cost and logistics; Kent said the fee would be around $3,000 for the requested days, that the foundation would handle cleanup, and that they carry insurance. Commissioners discussed the county's growing demand from groups seeking waivers and noted a forthcoming nonprofit fee policy; after questions, Commissioner Bingham moved to approve the waiver with the discussed conditions, Commissioner Perry seconded, and the motion passed.
