Box Elder County commissioners voted to adopt the 2026 Corridor Preservation Fund priority list, a required step for local projects to be eligible for state transportation funding cycles.
County staff explained the list acts as a "wish list" that must include a project for it to be eligible for funding under state code. Staff noted the list typically contains about 12 projects drawn from cities, towns and the county; highlighted items on the staff draft are new additions for 2026. "Ultimately, what this priority list is is a wish list," staff said, and commissioners discussed timing and application requirements, including that applications should generally be submitted before a project begins.
A commissioner moved to adopt the priority list as presented; the motion was seconded and approved by voice vote. Staff will email the list to municipalities and accept applications in the coming funding cycles.
