Superintendent Katie Chavarria reported several facilities and staffing updates at the Oct. 15 meeting, including legal review of HVAC materials, mold removal under a kitchen dishwasher and the start of a new counselor.
Chavarria said the "attorney from Pacifica Law Group reached out requesting additional information regarding our HVAC situation. The documents have been sent, and the attorney will follow up once he has reviewed all the materials." She also said some mold was removed from under the kitchen dishwasher and that plumbing work will be required, which "may be costly," and that the issue will likely be addressed at a future meeting. Chavarria announced that the new counselor, Katie Murphy, has started and that invoices will be prorated to reflect any missed days. She also encouraged board members to vote for State Board of Education representatives.
The board did not take immediate action on facilities repairs during the Oct. 15 meeting; staff will return with cost estimates and recommendations for future consideration.
