The Skamania School District board held a first reading of Policy 3207, which the superintendent said was revised to clarify it governs harassment, intimidation, and bullying of students. Superintendent Katie Chavarria explained the update was based on WSSDA language. Board Director Lisa Young asked that the word 'however' be removed from a sentence under 'Retaliation/False Allegations' so the paragraph will read, "Students or employees will not be disciplined for making a report in good faith."
The policy was presented for review; the board did not adopt it at the Nov. 19 meeting and will consider any final wording changes at a subsequent meeting. The requested change is procedural and intended to avoid penalizing good-faith reporters.
