At a Sept. 24, 2025 board workshop the Skamania School District board reviewed progress on its 2024–25 goals and agreed to continue and revise a set of priority areas for 2025–26. The board’s listed priorities included “Quality Education; Leadership; Staff Recruitment and Retention; Student Retention; Financial Stewardship; Public Relations and Communication; Long-term Facility Planning.”
The move to retain and refine those priorities came during a discussion of the district’s strategic direction for the coming school year. Board members agreed the revisions (noted as attached to the meeting record) will guide the board and superintendent’s work on staffing, student retention and facility needs. No formal vote on adoption is recorded; the board reached consensus that the revised language should be carried forward for implementation and tracking.
Superintendent Katie Chavarria participated in the discussion and the workshop record shows the board will incorporate the edits into the draft goals. The board also recorded that no public comments were received at the workshop. The record lists the revisions as an attachment to be referenced going forward.
