Skamania board begins levy planning; Piper Sandler materials to inform October discussion

Superintendent Katie Chavarria updated the board on levy planning and timelines, reporting she had met with the district communications lead (Chuck) and consulted Piper Sandler, which provides levy guidance and tax-rate impact tools at no cost to districts. She said the materials include calculators for projected levy amounts and effects on community tax rates and that she will circulate the materials to board members.
Chuck will attend the Oct. meeting to review the numbers and support planning. Katie said the board needs to pass a levy resolution in November to allow time for bond counsel drafting and Office of Superintendent of Public Instruction (OSPI) approval before the December filing deadline. She asked board members to come to October with a proposed levy amount for discussion.
