Skamania School District board adopts replacement levy resolution

The Skamania School District #2 Board of Directors voted to adopt Levy Resolution #11192025, a replacement educational programs and operations levy, during its Nov. 19 meeting. Board Chair Donald Collins moved to adopt the resolution; Lisa Young seconded and the motion passed with one abstention due to an excused absence.
Board members requested edits to the explanatory materials. Collins asked that the current tax rate be added to the Explanatory Statement, and Young asked the title of the Explanatory Statement be updated to read "Replacement of Expiring Educational Programs & Operations Levy." Superintendent Katie Chavarria agreed to consult bond counsel to determine whether those edits can be made before materials are finalized. The board also discussed recruiting pro/con committees and will post notice on district channels to solicit volunteers.
