Board reviews HVAC issues; law firm offers pro bono start-up review

Superintendent Katie Chavarria reported Pacifica Law Group, represented by Zak Tomlinson, has offered to provide initial start-up services pro bono, including reviewing district notes to determine whether a case exists and recommending an action letter to the contractor. "The firm has offered to provide initial start-up services pro bono," Katie said, presenting the engagement letter for the Board’s review.
Katie also said the air conditioner in the storage portable could not be repaired after inspection by Hunter Davisson; a replacement quote was "just under $20,000." Because the portable is no longer expected to be used as a classroom, Katie recommended exploring less expensive alternatives rather than replacing the unit at that cost. The Board and district agreed to pursue lower-cost options and to accept the law firm's offer to review the matter.
