The Planning Commission voted virtually to have Alyssa Sebetto from the Windham Regional Commission assist in updating the town’s Flood Hazard Mitigation Bylaws. The Selectboard noted a grant is available to fund the work and discussed the project timeline.
Board members asked staff to seek clarification from Matt Bachler on whether public hearings must be completed by December or whether that is only the deadline for draft amendments; Shawna Batogowski will follow up. The board did not take a final vote on bylaw changes at the Aug. 12 meeting; the planning process will proceed through the Planning Commission and follow the usual public-notice and hearing requirements.
Why this matters: updating flood-hazard bylaws can affect development standards in hazard areas and unlock grant funding; the town’s timeline and hearing schedule will determine whether the grant and updates can be completed within the stated deadlines.
