Council approves Virginia Peninsula Food Bank’s use permit for warehouse plus community services

Staff recommended approval with six conditions to ensure the warehouse remains the dominant use on the site.
Bob Latifus, CEO of the food bank, told council the new facility would be about “90% warehouse and maybe 10%” community programming space, describing plans for a boardroom–style meeting area to host financial counseling, workforce development seminars and other services aimed at helping people exit food insecurity. Council moved and approved the use permit by voice vote with conditions.
