The mayor explained the administration’s plan to begin artist and promoter outreach earlier in the season to “secure more talent” and avoid being locked out, noting last year many acts were already booked by late fall. Councilmembers asked about sponsorship shortfalls and whether the city would be contractually obligated if revenue projections fall short; staff and the mayor noted the amounts are “not to exceed” and that the city would work to secure sponsorships to lower net cost.
The motion was made and supported by council members and carried on a voice vote.
