Residents raise a range of local concerns in public comment period

A variety of neighborhood issues were raised during the public comment segment. Speakers requested follow up and remedies on several topics: campaign sign enforcement for large repeat offending signs; continuing investigation of Barnes Cemetery contamination and title issues; reconsideration or careful piloting of Shell Road closures; a request for a traffic signal or photo enforcement at a problematic intersection; fill or drainage work at Ridgeway Bark Park; and inquiry about adding an ATM near the downtown carousel for visitor convenience.
One resident asked for "stricter, stricter discipline on repeat offenders for residential properties" on campaign signs. Ginny Belgrave asked whether an ATM could be installed near the carousel because some visitors "didn't have cash" to ride. Staff said they would research the campaign sign ordinance with the city attorney, look into Ridgeway Park drainage, and direct residents to nearby existing ATMs if appropriate.
Council and staff acknowledged they did not provide ideal public notice for some items and committed to additional outreach, technical follow up from Public Works, and legal follow up where appropriate.
