Peninsula Pilots highlight new video board, outline locker-room renovation and community programming

Mayor Tuck introduced Henry Morgan, owner of the Peninsula Pilots, and the team presented highlights from a successful 2024 season and recent stadium investments.

"We wanna be the community's living room where people go and sit next to each other and have a conversation and a civil conversation," Morgan said, characterizing the new video board and gameday programming as a return of energy to War Memorial Stadium. A team presentation reported a 34‑win, 14‑loss season, total home attendance of 56,894 and an average attendance of about 2,371 per game. The team noted several former Pilots reached Major League Baseball rosters or were drafted in 2024.

Morgan outlined ongoing facility work, including a locker-room renovation that began Aug. 19 to modernize a facility dating to 1972. He said the renovations have progressed through interior demolition, plumbing relocation and masonry work, and that the city and stadium authority will hold the contractor to liquidated damages if schedules slip. Morgan also said the team is negotiating a short college-game series next spring to bring visitors and overnight stays to the city.

Council and staff recognized the volunteer and stadium-authority contributions that facilitated the video‑board installation and youth sports programming; Morgan singled out staff and student volunteers who supported gameday media and broadcast work. The mayor and council thanked the organization for its youth-sports efforts and for contributing to the city's placemaking agenda.
