Council approved a one-year contract extension for the city's 2022 sanitary sewer rehabilitation (CIPP) program with the current vendor, for an amount not to exceed $1,000,000 funded through the sewage disposal fund and MEDC grants.
"I think in the last 4 years, we've done roughly $4,000,000 in pipelining. We probably have another $40,000,000 to go," a DPW representative told the council when asked about program progress. Council members pressed for status on lead-line replacement; staff said the DPW is working on outreach and that some residents remain hard to reach. Funding was described as dedicated and available for ongoing work.
The council approved the extension and asked staff to return with a more detailed status report on lead-line replacement at a future meeting.
