The council approved a low bid from Genesis Chevrolet for three electric Chevrolet Blazers for police use at a not-to-exceed cost of $134,202, funded by EECBG and state forfeiture funds.
"Motion to approve Genesis Chevrolet low bid for 3 EV Blazers for an amount not to exceed $134,202," the chair said during the item. Council members asked whether charging infrastructure was in place; police staff responded that chargers are being installed and the vehicles had been tested by officers.
Council members also discussed vehicle interior size and officer comfort as reasons for the selection. Staff said there were no matching costs or strings attached to the award.
