Board of Ethics reports eight meetings and plans code updates; council receives report

The Taylor Board of Ethics chair provided the board's annual report and told council the board met eight times this year and has one hearing pending with an anticipated settlement date of Nov. 28.
"We've met 8 times in this year," the board chair said, summarizing lessons learned and promising a set of recommendations and code amendments that will be submitted to the administration and council for consideration.
Corporation counsel noted the board has authority under the existing ethics provisions to promulgate procedural rules where not explicitly spelled out in statute. Council thanked the board for its work and noted staff will work with the board and the next council to implement any recommended changes.
What to watch: the administration will receive the board's proposed additions to the code of ethics for review before council consideration.
