Council approves rezoning of several parcels on Holden Street to Main Street Form Based Code

Midvale City Council unanimously approved a map amendment on Sept. 17 to rezone approximately 6.7 acres along Holden Street from Clean Industrial (CI) to the Main Street Form Based Code (MS-FBC).
Planner Jonathan Anderson told the council staff believes the MS-FBC extension across Holden St follows the 2018 Midvale Main Street Small Area Plan's 5+ year implementation strategies and is appropriate for infill development. No written objections were on file for the council hearing. Property owner Robert Blackmore asked for confirmation that his existing nonconforming use would be grandfathered; City Attorney Garrett Wilcox explained that nonconforming rights run with the land for one year after a sale and that abandonment rules apply. Council Member Bryant Brown moved to approve Ordinance No. 2024-O-24; the motion passed unanimously.
