Energy committee: School EV charger installed; town signs and subscription paid at lower cost than expected

Steve Dukloos, representing the Weybridge Energy Committee, told the Select Board that an electric vehicle charger at the Weybridge School has been installed but that final activation remains pending with ChargePoint. “Don't quote me on this, but I think the charge is gonna for charging there, it's gonna be about it's gonna be $3 an hour, which at 20 kilowatts an hour comes out to 15¢ a kilowatt hour,” Dukloos said, noting the price shown in the ChargePoint app and that credit-card users might incur additional processing fees.
Dukloos said the committee had expected to use a February board allocation of $3,714.80 toward installation costs, but the final out-of-pocket charge came to $1,056.88. That figure includes a three-year ChargePoint subscription so users can pay by credit card without the app. The committee requested permission to install directional signage—two signs on Route 23 and two on Quaker Village Road—estimated at about $150 plus posts. Board members confirmed town posts are available and discussed whether the committee’s fund or the town should cover the sign cost.
The Select Board asked the energy committee to coordinate placement and to notify town staff when the charger is fully live so the committee can post an operational notice on the town website. Dukloos said he will work with school staff (Bruce McIntyre) and ChargePoint support until activation is complete.
