The council approved a multi-item consent agenda that included awarding the Market Street and Hinesburg Road traffic-signal project to Engineers Construction Inc., awarding a new boiler project at 19 Gregory Drive to Alliance and TCV, and adopting the city’s draft active-transportation plan dated February 2025.
Councilors used the consent discussion to flag long-term design choices. Laurie and Mike urged staff to evaluate roundabouts as alternatives to signals at certain intersections as redevelopment proceeds, citing traffic flow and safety benefits. Mike suggested the city include a 'macro' network objective — for example a target number of miles for the active-transportation network — to help track progress; he said the plan, while detailed, lacks a clear macro metric. Staff said the signal award proceeds now and that the active-transportation plan would be finalized with map corrections and clarifications.
The consent agenda motion was moved and seconded and passed by unanimous voice vote.
