Daphne Herwig raised whether the commission needed to order flags for Memorial Day; Susan Lyons said the commission already "have 45 new flags upstairs" at the Town Office and that the Village Cemetery had 153 flags removed, 105 of which were still usable. Commissioners agreed to order a new large flag for the Village and to meet Saturday, May 10 at 9 a.m. to place flags in the Village cemetery.
The group discussed proper disposal of worn flags and options to involve the American Legion and Boy Scouts in a flag-burning ceremony that provides community ceremony and scouting recognition. Daphne asked the clerk to check Dollar General and other suppliers for quality flags, and the commission agreed to watch the budget for additional purchases.
