Public hearing set June 23 for proposed vacation of impassable stretch of 133rd Avenue

Engineering explained two common options used by other counties: remove the bridge or transfer ownership to the adjacent property owner (often for a nominal fee) with the board handling disposition through a resolution and public hearing.
"So the motion would be to set a public hearing date for June 23 at 9AM," staff said, and the board approved a resolution to set that hearing date; staff said certified letters will be sent to adjacent landowners and affected utilities will be notified. Staff said vacating the road would allow adjacent landowners to install fencing or better manage the area but that utility easements would remain in place for overhead lines.
Why this matters: the proposed vacation would change local access and maintenance responsibilities for property owners adjacent to the closed bridge. The public hearing will be the chance for neighbors and utilities to raise support or objections; disposition of the bridge itself will be considered as part of the post-hearing process.
