Surry County wins VACO achievement award for ERP modernization and staff praised for implementation

The Virginia Association of Counties presented Surry County with an achievement award for a county IT modernization project the board described as a major step forward.
Greg Carter of VACO said the award recognizes counties that adopt innovative approaches to public service and called Surry’s win its third achievement award in recent years. County Administrator Melissa Rollins and staff described moving from an accounting system that was more than 22 years old to the Tyler Munis platform as a necessary modernization: "we decided to take that bold move, to go to the Tyler Munis program," a staff member said.
County staff singled out implementation leads including DeLon Brown and finance staff (Melissa Harvey) for their roles in getting the system live and thanked end users who learned the new platform. The board and staff took a photo to mark the award and encouraged continued attention on system benefits and training.
