The board was told some contractors and community groups have not been paid for work or losses dating back several months, and that the insurer appears to propose a single payment that may not cover separate invoices. “The citizens of Jackson County should not have to pay for any of this,” Lisa said, expressing frustration at delays and asking that ECIA/RTA and the county's insurance contacts step in to clarify payment processes.
Supervisors asked auditors and the county attorney to press the insurer and to bring ECIA/RTA into conversations; they discussed whether litigation might be necessary if insurers do not make contractors whole. The auditor said documentation provided by the insurer did not include some invoices and that a new adjuster recently replaced the original contact due to inaction.
