Supervisor hears plan to address abandoned mobile homes; county lacks current enforcement tools

Elizabeth Townsend told the board she has received numerous nuisance complaints about abandoned manufactured homes visible from county roads and described public-health and safety risks, including vermin and structural hazards for children. "I think it would end up being, like, maybe a 5 year plan to get those removed from the county," she said, adding that the county currently lacks an ordinance or clear enforcement mechanism.
Townsend said she will work with zoning and the county attorney to draft options. Supervisors discussed outreach and owner notification as first steps and noted potential costs and disposal challenges; no formal policy or budget appropriation was made during the meeting.
