The Nashua Finance Committee voted to approve a Motorola Systems upgrade and maintenance contract not to exceed $318,732.35. Alderman Sullivan moved the measure, which the committee approved by voice vote.
Bill Mansfield, radio assistant manager, told the committee the work includes a biennial system upgrade scheduled for May of next year, monthly remote security updates, annual preventive maintenance at sites and on-call technical support. "Every two years, Motorola comes in and upgrades our network infrastructure ... to make sure that it's up to speed with the current security," Mansfield said. He added the contract also covers remote security upgrades and Astro technical support for troubleshooting alarms and resolving issues by phone.
Committee members asked whether the payment represented multi-year costs; Mansfield said the line items shown represent the total for all current contracts and that the city will make the payment in one year. The motion was approved without recorded roll-call tallies.
