Madison council approves police labor agreement and adds tentative contract to packet

Council voted Dec. 23 to approve Ordinance No. 33-2024, adopting a labor agreement with the Ohio Patrolmen's Benevolent Association and formally adding the tentative agreement to the ordinance packet as "Exhibit 1." Law Director Szeman told council the tentative agreement had not been in the packet earlier because it was not available for a prior executive session.
A motion to amend the ordinance to include the tentative agreement was made by Mr. Donaldson and seconded by Mr. Vest; the council then voted to suspend rules and pass the ordinance as amended, with each roll-call vote recorded as 5 yeas. Mayor Britton said he is happy with the agreement. The ordinance was enacted immediately under the emergency motions recorded at the meeting.
