Montoursville council approves new borough cleaning service expected to save $5,824 a year

Montoursville Borough Council on April 6 approved a weekly cleaning contract with Kristen Walters at $100.00 per week, a change Borough Manager Donna M. Taggart said will lower the borough’s annual costs. "Mr. Boyles has saved the Borough $5,824.00/yr with this new cleaning service," Taggart told council during the meeting at the John Dorin Municipal Building.
Council Member Donald S. Boyles said he vetted three candidates and recommended Walters based on references and price. Council President Dr. Tina Kline and members voted to approve the motion moved by Misty Emick and seconded by Donald Konkle. Taggart said the contractor will follow a checklist of duties and will clean for a couple of hours each weekend; she reported the change followed a notice from the prior contractor about a 7% rate increase.
