Planning staff explained a two-phase approach to the comp-plan five-year review: Phase 1 focuses on the 21 amendments grouped into nine themes for near-term deliberation; Phase 2 would be a broader update. Staff proposed a public-engagement framework in which each topic receives a briefing in the Friday packet, an initial live comment opportunity, a month-long written comment window, and a subsequent deliberation and vote.
The commission discussed sequencing and asked that the future land-use map work be moved earlier because many amendments depend on it. Staff said a shared working folder with maps and side-by-side comparisons has already been placed online for commissioner access and that the town will run workshops and targeted outreach, including two downtown focus-area workshops in late June/early July.
