Jordan, planning staff, updated the commission on commercial site-plan activity across town. He said a site plan was submitted for the building at 871 East Main (replacement of an existing Butler building next to Ace Hardware) and that owner discussions had occurred with the BAR on potential designs. "What was originally contemplated as one nearly 4,000-square-foot restaurant with a drive-through has been parsed into three units," Jordan said, noting the applicants are expected to submit a signature set later this summer.
Jordan also described a divergent site-plan proposal for three properties on Hatcher that could become townhomes subject to a special-use permit and noted Trails End/Trails Edge and The Woodlands projects are moving through review. For The Woodlands the town issued a conditional site-plan approval pending final agency comments, including VDOT comments for the VDOT-maintained section of Hearst. Staff said they are awaiting resubmissions and will track referrals on the Valley Commerce Center annexation to the county planning commission later in the season.
