The council voted to approve two separate rezoning requests that would allow multifamily housing near East Lake Road.
Planning Director Tim Littlejohn presented case 2026‑35, a request to rezone roughly 24.48 acres from agricultural/open space to multifamily at the intersection of East Lake Road and Musgrave Boulevard; staff said notifications were sent and no returns were received and Planning & Zoning recommended approval. The council approved the rezoning.
In case 2026‑37, the owner (Gary Musgrave) and applicant (Jacob Martin) requested rezoning of about 6.97 acres from general retail to multifamily at East Lake Road and Union Lane. The applicant's agent described a townhome‑style project and argued the rezoning fits adjacent land uses; Planning & Zoning recommended approval and council approved.
Both items were approved with no public speakers at the hearings; staff said the cases met the criteria in the land‑development code.
