Parks staff report grant-funded playground upgrade, storm damage repairs and new boat dock work

Jesus Coronado, Parks Division Manager, said staff secured a TRAPS Healthy Play grant to cover playground equipment at Nelson Park, which will make the city's funding go further for the project. "We were able to acquire this grant through the Traps Healthy Playground," Coronado said, and noted the grant will fund standard equipment for the renovation.
Coronado also reviewed storm damage across parks, with tree and roof damage at Sears Park and fence repairs for recent tournaments. He said demolition on the old boat dock at Kirby Lake is underway to make way for a new dock purchased with funding from Texas Parks and Wildlife; staff expect installation to start next week. The board thanked staff and asked that staff continue cleanup and repair work.
