Resident urges council to let voters weigh removal of medians on Bryan corridors

Hall said the city secretary might advise that a charter amendment is not the correct mechanism, because a charter amendment requires signatures from 5% of registered Bryan voters, and warned that charter language would likely require removing all medians at once. She proposed other options: a nonbinding referendum to measure public sentiment or a phased removal plan that takes medians out in sections over time. She identified some areas where medians should remain, such as near the Tejas Center and University to Rosemary, and offered to follow up with the council.
Council thanked Hall and closed public comment; the meeting adjourned shortly afterward.
