Council discusses multiple advisory-board appointments; some nominations and reappointments slated for regular meeting

Staff (speaker S2) reviewed current openings across Bryan's advisory boards and commissions, noting vacancies on the Bryan Brazos County Economic Development Foundation, the Cemetery Advisory Board, Community Development Advisory Committee alternates, Parks and Recreation, and the Senior Advisory Committee. Council discussed nominees and timing rather than taking immediate votes.
Councilman (speaker S1) said he would like to nominate Doug French for the Bryan Business Council seat. Later, councilmembers named Debbie Schmitz and Michelle Bright as candidates for two Parks & Recreation slots. Staff and council also discussed reappointing Rick Starnes to Place 3 on the Senior Advisory Committee; the council agreed to reappoint him and to postpone several other board appointments (including the Bryan Brazos County Economic Development Foundation and the Cemetery Advisory Board) until January to allow further review.
No formal roll-call appointments were recorded in the workshop. Staff will prepare the formal nomination and appointment items for the next regular meeting where council can vote to confirm appointments.
