Melvin Bowser Jr., a Bryan resident and film producer, told council he wants to develop a film-and-media production studio in Bryan to keep local talent and production dollars in the Brazos Valley.
Bowser described a production and training hub modeled on larger programs in Austin and other Texas cities, said production activity brings hotel revenue and vendor spending, and requested a meeting with city staff or a future council work session to present his proposal formally and explore public-private partnership, land support or economic-development incentives.
Council members responded positively and encouraged follow-up with staff; no formal council action was taken at the meeting.
