Council hears $420,000 short-term package and $1.6M full-field estimate for Travis Park

City staff and Rev Entertainment gave council initial cost estimates for making Travis Park playable for contracted users in 2026 and outlined lead-time considerations.
Madison Sanfilippo summarized the cost options presented to the city: “Repairs to be playable for 2026, it is a 420,000. All of these 4 items would be $420,000. That is just with patch of the turf replacement,” she said, referring to fence, playing surface patching, netting and padding. She added that a full-field replacement was shown at about $1.6 million.
Consultant Dave cautioned that partial turf repairs can reveal subsurface problems (grading and drainage) once the existing turf is removed. He noted staff-supplied vendor quotes required review and that the city’s original installer could help match materials.
Council members asked about storage, maintenance and aesthetics of a partial replacement; staff and consultants said partial work would be feasible but could create color/texture mismatches next to older turf and might require laser grading or drainage fixes. No final procurement or budget vote was taken at the workshop; staff requested direction to prioritize short-term safety spending and to report back with procurement-ready estimates.
