Council approves three-year Stryker maintenance agreement for fire equipment (Res. 25-27)

Deputy Fire Chief Story asked the council to approve a three-year preventative maintenance agreement with Stryker for emergency medical equipment the department uses, including gurneys, AutoLoad systems, Lucas devices, LifePacks and heart monitors. Story said current annual agreements had expired for some items and that a multi-year contract would lock pricing and provide continuity of service.
"By doing the 3 year contract, it gives us a 15% discount on that kind of per line item and locks us into the pricing for that 3 year period," Story said, adding that some pieces of equipment can cost "just under $50,000" to replace and that the contract covers parts and labor, batteries over five years of age, and onsite service calls. Councilors asked how the company documents work and whether parts would be ordered or brought onsite; Story said Stryker inspects, services, and either repairs onsite or orders parts under the agreement. The motion to approve the agreement passed on roll call.
