Council records support for Weber County pre-disaster mitigation plan (Res. 25-26)

Chief West asked the council to record South Ogden’s support for the Weber County Pre-Disaster Mitigation Plan (listed as 2024) so FEMA can complete its final steps and the plan can be used to pursue mitigation grants. He described the plan as the county-level FEMA-required document that enables reallocation or regrouping of funds after a disaster and helps the city seek grant funding for mitigation projects.
"That is not a typo. It is 2024. It took that long for FEMA to approve it," Chief West said, noting FEMA’s lengthy approval timeline. The council moved, seconded and approved a statement of support; staff said the item will return for formal adoption after FEMA finalizes the plan.
