Suicide-prevention coalition asks South Ogden to publicize training and outreach

At the June 17 meeting, Doug Myler, representing New Hope — a regional suicide-prevention and awareness coalition associated with Weber State and supported in part by IHC — asked the city to include the coalition in municipal outreach and communications. "QPR training is a very important training to do," Myler told the council and asked staff to connect with the coalition's director about outreach and event collaboration.
Myler described New Hope’s activities (workplace trainings, tabling at events) and an annual walk held the third Saturday of September that draws roughly 3,000 people at the Ogden amphitheater. He asked the city to include South Ogden in coalition materials or to have a staff contact for coordination.
Council thanked Myler for the outreach offer and asked staff to gather contact information so the coalition and the city can follow up. No formal funding request was adopted at the meeting.
