Florence board approves monument sign and sets March 17 public hearing on zoning variance

Community Development Director Joel Sims presented two items related to development and zoning on the Feb. 17 agenda.
The board approved monument signage for Eagle Post Road at 131 Hwy. 469 North as submitted by Gator Signs (motion by Alderman Brent Sistrunk, seconded by Alderman Mason Herrin). Separately, the board voted to set a public hearing for March 17, 2026 at 6:30 p.m. on a requested variance from section 404(A) of the Storm Water/Rain Water Regulations (Chapter 23 Appendix A Building Ordinances, Ordinance No. 272) in a C‑3 zoning district; the City Engineer was directed to provide written facts and circumstances for the hearing. Both motions carried unanimously.
The minutes do not record public comment on these items; the hearing date will provide an opportunity for affected parties to speak.
