Council referred two items to committee for further work: a potential woodlot maintenance grant program for HOA common areas and expansion of a greenway corridor maintenance pilot.
Mara Hunter asked that the topic of HOA maintenance of woodlots be sent to the Public Services Committee and the Community Services Advisory Committee for further discussion and a recommendation to council; staff recommended considering matching grants or a dedicated program with clear criteria and accountability. The motion to refer passed unanimously.
Matt Ehrman reviewed the 2020 Avery‑Muirfield Greenway Corridor pilot and recommended referring consideration of expanding the city‑led corridor maintenance approach—implemented by voluntary easements—to other corridors such as France Road. Council supported referral and emphasized voluntary participation, clear communication and sensitivity to established neighborhoods. Both items will return to council after committee review.
