Florence approves public-works equipment purchases totaling $23,060

The City of Florence board on Feb. 3 approved two Public Works purchases recommended by Public Works Operator Billy Russell. Alderman Brent Sistrunk moved and Alderman Kyle Martin seconded approval of Consolidated Pipe & Supply Co., Inc.'s quotes for both items; both motions carried unanimously.
The first approved purchase was a $9,760 quote for installation of two shield panel assemblies and two adjustable spreader assemblies. The board recorded the competing quote from Southern Pipe & Supply at $18,533.17 and concluded Consolidated Pipe & Supply was the lowest and best bid. The second purchase was for a P50B push cam camera system at $13,300; Southern Pipe & Supply had offered $15,000.
City officials said the purchases will be used by the Public Works Department for inspection and maintenance tasks. Both approvals were voted unanimously by the four members present.
