In executive session the board accepted the resignations of Officer Hayden Lukens (effective Feb. 23, 2026) and Dispatcher Lucy Macias (effective Feb. 24, 2026). The board then hired Jason Love as a full‑time police officer at $21.06 per hour starting March 4, 2026 and authorized sending him to SRPSI Academy at Camp Shelby on April 5, 2026 at a cost of $4,000, pending successful background and drug and alcohol testing and a six‑month probationary period. The hiring motion was recorded as carried with votes in favor by Aldermen Banks, Herrin, Martin and Sistrunk (Brian Grantham absent).
